Charles Abugre
biography
Charles Abugre is a Ghanaian, development economist, trained in Ghana, the Institute of Social Studies, The Hague and the University of Wales, Swansea. Mr Abugre is currently the head of global policy and advocacy at Christian Aid, the UK. Prior to that he lectured in development studies at the University of Wales. For many years, Charles has been an active player in the global civil society movement. He has been leading member of the Third World Network, including being the head of it's Africa secretariat until 2000. He has played key roles in the founding of ISODEC and the Center for Public Interest Law, 2 of Ghana's campaigning organizations, and other African networks and coalitions.
Charles has lived and worked in Uganda, Malaysia, Eritrea. the UK, The Netherlands and is widely traveled. His research interests cover a wide range of economic justice issues, including trade, development finance, and the role of international financial institutions in developing countries. He has been involved in the global trade justice campaign, campaigns for the right to water and is currently active in the Tax Justice Network. Charles serves on the advisory panels and Boards of several international organizations.
