Help us fight for a just UN climate agreement for Africa and the world
We need your help to ensure that the voices of activists from across the globe – including Africa, Asia and Latin America – can be heard at the UN climate talks in South Africa this December.

Time is running out to avoid the environmental and human catastrophe that runaway climate change will cause.
Friends of the Earth groups across the globe are bearing witness to the impact of extreme weather such as intense drought and flooding on the communities with whom we work.

The upcoming UN climate talks in South Africa in December mark a critical juncture in the international negotiations to prevent catastrophic climate change. Rich country governments are trying to shirk their responsibility to commit to serious emissions cuts and the economic transformations they entail, and provide necessary finance to developing countries to cope with the impacts.
The existing global climate framework requires that the rich countries who are most responsible for causing climate change make the greatest efforts to tackle the problem. It provides our greatest chance for avoiding runaway climate change.
But rich countries are trying to dismantle this framework and drive forward dangerous and false solutions to the climate crisis, like carbon trading.
Africa is warming faster than the global average and Africans are among the most vulnerable to its impacts, including flooding, drought and food shortages. More than 40% of Africans already live in poverty: climate change only threatens to increase that number and create further devastation, insecurity and suffering.
The need for cohesion among African and other developing country governments and strong civil society pressure to keep international negotiations on track has never been greater.
With your contribution, FoEI will ensure that the voices of activists from across the globe – including Africa, Asia and Latin America – can be heard. We will take action in Durban to spread the message of environmental justice and keep a close watch on negotiations.
With corporations and rich country governments manoeuvring behind-the-scenes for an outcome that translates into profits instead of progress, the challenge is huge and the stakes are high.
Help us fight for a climate agreement that puts the needs of people and our planet over corporate profits by supporting FoEI.
Friends of the Earth groups from across the globe have an important role to play in ensuring that their governments push for solutions that reflect the needs and priorities of ordinary people and communities in our countries and around the world.
Please join us in standing alongside and speaking out on behalf of the people most threatened by climate change. We simply can't afford to be silent.
