battle commences in world gmo safety talks

 Friends of the Earth welcomes the strong defence of the precautionary principle taken by the head of the Europe delegation today in the negotiations in Montreal, Canada, on the international safety of genetically modified organisms. Liana Stupples of Friends of the Earth said:

" The passionate and strong defence of the precautionary principle taken by the European delegation is very welcome. The position of countries like America and Canada is inexcusable, isolated and untenable. People throughout the world have the right to protect their environment and be safe rather than sorry."
