friends of the earth swaziland director wins prestigious goldman prize

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA (USA), April 19, 2010 -- Friends of the Earth International welcomed today's announcement that the director of Friends of the Earth Swaziland / Yonge Nawe, Thuli Brilliance Makama, is one of six winners of the prestigious Goldman Prize in San Francisco.

"Thuli is a real hero who never bowed in her battle against Big Game Parks, despite direct threats made against her, her family and Friends of the Earth Swaziland. This prize is truly deserved by Thuli, who recently won a legal landmark case to include NGO representation in the Swaziland Environment Authority," said Nnimmo Bassey, Chair of Friends of the Earth International.
