foei gender program sets its course
In September, representatives from Friends of the Earth groups in Ghana, Swaziland, Sweden, Malta, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Australia, Honduras, Guatemala, Colombia, Paraguay, Uruguay, and affiliate member Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) Bankwatch met in Amsterdam to chart the direction of the Friends of the Earth International gender program.
We agreed to work on initiatives including gender and mining, and gender and climate. Another important strand we agreed to tackle is to increase documentation of gender issues in our grassroots campaigning, and to integrate a gender dimension into our capacity-building activities.
We re-affirmed Niki Johnson's role as co-coordinator on behalf of FoE Uruguay, and elected Judy Pasimio as the second co-coordinator on behalf of FoE Philippines.
