strong and involved member groups
In 2007, the membership development team came together to develop a plan to implement FoEI’s membership development strategy. The team had an open discussion to establish a shared understanding of what we mean by "strong and involved FoEI member groups” in our strategic plan, and what programs we can implement in order to assist the development of our member groups. FoEI’s membership development strategy commits to continuously support the strengthening of national operations in order to increase our member groups’ effectiveness.
Friends of the Earth International aims to build a strong network. As such, we are stepping up our efforts to understand the needs of our members and assist them in their development. We believe that by supporting our groups’ organizational and institutional development activities we are strengthening the foundations for effective international, national and grassroots work.
FoEI invested more resources in supporting groups’ sustained organisational development in order to contribute to their overall goals. Through our membership development strategies, we have become better at assisting our members’ capacities in order to assist them to sustain their work. In the past years, we supported various learning initiatives including institutional and organizational development projects, stewardship processes, leadership trainings, sustainability schools and support for the development of the youth and young activists.
Currently, the membership development team is conducting a federation-wide consultation process in order to finalize a 5-10 years membership development strategy which will sharpen our focus and target initiatives that can be implemented together with our members and regional structures.
