Prioritizing local communities’ needs and challenging false solutions to the climate change crisis

In 2009, FoEI analyzed corporate-driven solutions for climate change which are being promoted by international financial institutions, such as the World Bank.

FoEI worked with civil society organizations to develop a set of demands for governments and international institutions that prioritize the needs of local communities instead of following the interests of corporate lobby groups.

 

Together with our allies, we achieved exceptional exposure and political debate around the implementation of the World Bank’s climate investment funds, which are intended to finance false solutions to climate change (such as CIFs, REDD and agrofuels) including dangerous energy alternatives such as agrofuels.
