global highlights - mining
On an international level we work to put an end subsidies from publicly-funded institutions like the World Bank and Export Credit Agencies to oil, gas and mining projects. We challenge the world's governments to redirect their support towards economic alternatives that could take us towards equitable and sustainable societies. At the same time, we call upon people everywhere to think critically and creatively about what they really need to consume and produce.

"The World Bank Board should commit to clear and concrete measures in line with the recommendations of their own reports and the calls from communities around the world.
The World Bank should phase out of oil, mining and gas, respect human rights and listen to the voices of the people it is supposed to serve. And to reduce the perceived need for cash strapped countries to drill and dig, the World Bank should immediately cancel 100% of impoverished country debt."
One of our demands put to the World Bank on its 60th birthday.
conference sharpens asia pacific mining debate
At the end of 2007 in the Philippines, we organised a mining conference and regional skillshare. The overall goal was to increase critical engagement and link local community experiences to discussions on social movement building, development and alternatives.
