criteria for membership
As a federation of grassroots environmental groups, FoEI is not able to accept individuals as members. The criteria below refer to those groups who are members of the FoEI network.

A member of FoEI should meet the
following criteria:

Independence from political
parties, economic interests, state,
religious and ethnic
organizations;

Working on both the national and
the grassroots levels;

Working on the main environmental
issues in their countries (that
means, they should not be
single-issue groups) and
participating in international
campaigns of FoEI whenever
relevant;

Open and democratic structures;
non-sexist;

Considering environmental issues
in their social, political and human
rights contexts;

Working as pressure group (as far
as possible within the national
context), they should campaign,
educate and do research.

Seeing cooperation with other
organizations as crucial for
mobilizing the broadest possible
range of resources and views to focus
on the same goals.
If your group is interested in
becoming a member of the Friends of the
Earth international network and meets
these critieria, and there is not
already a
FoEI member
group in your country, please
contact us at foei@foei.org for a
membership application form.
