co-organized by Friends of the Earth International (FoEI), Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO), Blue Planet Project/Council of Canadians (CoC), World Rainforest Movement (WRM)

Location : the Friends of the Earth International tent in the Thematic Axis 1 “Assuring and defending Earth and people's common goods – As alternative to commodification and transnational control” located at SECTION E.

January 27 : Trade Environment and Sustainability and Water events

  • 09:00 – 12:00 -- Hands of our Natural Resources! Corporations, trade liberalization and the commodification of nature
  • 13:00 – 17:30 -- The Defense of Water around the World : Reclaiming Public Water
  • 17:30 – 19:00 -- VIDEO FESTIVAL, (topics include water, forests, corporations, IFIs, climate change) schedule will be displayed in the tent.
  • 19:00 – 20:00 --Celebration of community struggles: Community Testimonies and Community Awards
  • 20:00 onwards: CULTURAL NIGHT Expressions of resistance through poetry and songs. Featuring poems by Nnimmo Bassey and wonderful Brazilian songs sung by women singers called Clave & Canella . Everyone is invited to join to share their poems, read a poem or sing!!!

January 28 : Biodiversity and International Financial Institutions events

  • 09:00 – 12:00 -- Nature for Sale : part 1
  • 13:00 – 17:30 -- Nature for Sale : part 2
  • 17:30 – 19:00 : VIDEO FESTIVAL (topics include water, forests, corporations, IFIs, climate change) schedule will be displayed in the tent.
  • 19:00 – 20:00 : Celebration of community struggles: Community Testimonies and Community Awards
  • 20:00 onwards: CULTURAL NIGHT Cultural presentations: local/traditional dances to be opened by Jo Villanueva . Everyone is invited to dance the night away with us!

January 29 : Forest and Plantations events

  • 09:00 – 12:00 – Forest and Plantations : An essential social issue (Part 1)
  • 13:00 - 18:00 – Forest and Plantations : An essential social issue (part 2)
  • 18:00 – 19:00 : VIDEO FESTIVAL (topics include water, forests, corporations, IFIs, climate change) schedule will be displayed in the tent.
  • 19:00 – 20:00 : Celebration of community struggles: Community Testimonies and Community Awards
  • 20:00 onwards: CULTURAL NIGHT Songs of resistance, songs in the forest to be opened by Ricardo Carrere . Featuring Heleen van den Homberg singing songs from Rush in the Woods ! Everyone is invited to join us listen to inspiring songs!
january 30 : Corporates events
  • 09:00 – 12:30 - Corporate Accountability : Part 1: testimonies
  • 10:30 - 12:30 – Corporate Accountability , part 2: strategiess
  • 13:30 – 18:30 : Corporate Accountability : Part 3: actions
  • 18:30 – 19:30 : VIDEO FESTIVAL (topics include water, forests, corporations, IFIs, climate change) schedule will be displayed in the tent.
  • 19:30 – 20:30 : Celebration of community struggles: Community Testimonies and Community Awards
  • 20:30 onwards: CULTURAL NIGHT Painting another world as it is created: drawing and painting expressions of resistance!! Artists are invited to join to paint the night away, dancing to follow afterwards!!
