COECOCEIBA has been part of the environmental movement for 20 years. They believe that change happens through working together with communities, connecting the local, national and international levels. For them, social movement building is fundamental to achieving an overhaul of the current development system, which has proven to be predatory and exclusionary.
Their vision is of sustainable societies based on social, economic, environmental, gender and intergenerational justice, where peoples’ rights and sovereignty are respected.
Their mission is to build the movement through coordination, and defend territories through actions that promote social transformation away from the capitalist model.
Their strategic objectives:
- Develop transformative proposals with allies
- Create spaces for discussion
- Promote campaigns against the impositions of the capitalist model.
- Generate participatory action and research to design and propose ways of working and processes for movement building.
