Friends of the Earth Togo is a non-profit organisation working to protect the environment with a vision for sustainable development. It was founded on 20 June 1990.

The organisation’s is active in: biodiversity, climate change, renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, fishing, desertification, environmental education, chemicals, the mining sector, water and sanitation, environmental and social justice, and civic control over government activities. For the latter, it is actively involved in the Initiative for Transparency in the Extractive Industries (ITIE) as a steering committee member.

Friends of the Earth Togo’s vision is of a society which is ecologically, socially and economically sustainable in Togo. Its mission is to encourage human society to live in a way which preserves the Earth’s capacity to sustain life. It does this by focusing on practices that contribute to sustainable development.

Its actions include: educational holiday camps, training workshops, seminars and roundtables, lobbying decision makers for positive change, and awareness-raising campaigns about the issues listed above.
