Family farming in El Salvador against the COVID-19 pandemic
With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic in El Salvador, CESTA (Friends of the Earth El Salvador) is supporting families from San Vicente to change conventional agricultural practices in favour of an agroecological system, free from agrotoxics. In this way, they are ensuring access to healthy food and promoting local production. With the Movement of Peoples Affected by Climate Change and Corporations (MOVIAC), they are pushing for a law that promotes agroecology in El Salvador, a Central American country.
Agroecology for food sovereignty has been a clear response to the systemic crisis deepened by the COVID-19 pandemic. In this series of videos, six Friends of the Earth groups show how agroecological practices have been the fundamental basis to build sustainable solutions with solidarity at the centre.
