Frequently asked questions
Please check our member group list to find out if there is a Friends of the Earth member group in your country. Our structure allows for only one group per country. If there is a group in your country, you should get in touch with them about possible collaboration. If there is no Friends of the Earth group in your country and your organisation/group is interested in applying for membership, please bear in mind that we have very strict membership criteria, and membership is only open for existing organisations. Please contact us for more information at web[at]foei.org.
Friends of Earth International works directly with member groups and strategically aligned organisations such as La Vía Campesina and the World March of Women. We are not usually directly involved in local campaign work. Please contact the member group in your country to ask about local collaboration.
Friends of the Earth International does not have individual members, although many of our member groups do. If there is a group operating in your country, please contact them directly to see how you can get involved. To support our international activities, please make a donation to Friends of the Earth International and take action on our Internationalist Solidarity System platform, or join us on social media (Twitter and Facebook).
Friends of the Earth International currently has 73 member groups across four regions.
You can find a complete list of the contact details of all our member groups on our membership page. From this page you can also navigate to the website for each member group. If there is no group listed for a specific country, this means that we do not yet have a group there.
We are funded through contributions from our member groups and donations from governments and foundations. You can find more details in our annual reports.
Friends of the Earth International is a campaigning organisation and, as such is unfortunately unable to offer financial assistance.
The International Secretariat is a small office so we don't often have vacancies. Check our Jobs page and social media accounts for any paid or volunteer opportunities.
Note that open applications are not considered nor filed. We will only review applications as part of a recruitment process based on a vacancy we publish, including for internships and volunteers.
If there is a Friends of the Earth member group in your country, you can also contact them to find out about jobs, internships or volunteer positions locally.
Our policy is to link only to our member groups and other allied organisations directly involved in the campaigns we work on.
We have very strict fundraising guidelines regarding funding from private companies and corporations. The only situation in which we might be able to accept such funding is if the company has a charitable foundation that is legally independent to the company itself. We would need to run a due diligence check on any company wishing to donate via a charitable foundation.
