The Membership Development Team, composed of regional representatives, implements the membership development strategy and consults with groups in their region on membership issues.

Asia-Pacific

Chloe has represented the Asia-Pacific region in the Membership Development Team since 2016. She has worked and volunteered at Friends of the Earth Australia since 2012, supporting communities to protect their land, water and climate from invasive fossil fuel mining. She is passionate about developing networks of solidarity to support grassroots environmental justice struggles across Asia-Pacific and the world, and creating spaces for communities to come together to develop an internationalist environmental justice analysis.

Emma Jayne Geraghty

Europe

Emma Jayne is currently the Head of Movement Building with Friends of the Earth Ireland. She has been involved with Friends of the Earth for more than 10 years and has held multiple roles - including being a member of the Executive Committee of Friends of the Earth International, with Friends of the Earth Europe, Young Friends of the Earth Europe and has also been an activist, volunteer, staff member and board member of Friends of the Earth Ireland. She is passionate about creating the necessary conditions that center and support communities and young people that have been marginalised by systemic injustices and are facing the frontline impacts of climate change to play a central role in the just transition. She has led and implemented innovative projects for climate justice, youth education and empowerment, human rights and Traveller rights in Ireland, at an EU level and internationally. Her background is in Fine Arts, Community Development and she is most passionate about her role as a mum in leaving a sustainable and just planet behind.

Kokou Elorm Amegadze, current Acting Executive Director of Friends of the Earth-Togo, where he has worked since 2002, is an environmental legal person who campaigns for an ecologically well-managed, socially balanced and economically prosperous planet. In addition to his responsibilities within the Federation of NGOs in Togo, as a member of the Board of Directors, he contributed, at a supranational level, to the creation of the West African Civil Society Forum, an umbrella platform for NGOs and associations from 15 countries in the sub-region. In 2023, he became a member of the Consultative Board of Friends of the Earth Africa and of Friends of the Earth international's Membership Development Team.

Karin Nansen

Latin America & the Caribbean

Karin Nansen is the Coordinator and one of the founding members of REDES/Friends of the Earth Uruguay. As an environmental justice activist, she is committed to the promotion of food sovereignty and agroecological, diverse and just food systems. She also campaigns against the expansion of industrial agriculture and corporate control over food, while addressing the root causes of systemic crises, including climate and biodiversity. Karin represents REDES in the National Coordination of the Native and Local Seeds Network. She is a former Chair of Friends of the Earth International (2016-2021) and is now part of the Membership Development Team. She also serves on the ATALC regional Executive Committee.
